The Lagoncinha bridge, over the Ave river, is located in Lugar da Garrida, in the parish of Lousado, municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, district of Braga, in Portugal.
It was built in the 12th century, probably on the ruins of an old Roman bridge on the road that connected Bracara Augusta to Cale.
The Lagocinha bridge, over the Ave River, dates back, quite possibly, to the medieval period, when it replaced the old Roman bridge that established the connection between Porto and the city of Braga and, mainly, the connection between Porto and Santarém , in what was considered one of the most important routes of the Roman Empire (Scalabis Praesidium Julium)
Located in the southern area of the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, in the parish of Lousado, over the River Ave, it is a notable example of a Romanesque bridge, both in terms of engineering and in terms of history, being a fantastic heritage element in the municipality and in Portugal.
